I've got this little fellow cuddled up in my lap, he's fast asleep and his baby tummy purrs softly. The rise and fall of his satisfied belly is almost putting me to sleep but this time I'm determined to write about him before he tempts me to give in.
Mum says that when I was a little girl I let a tortoise in to the house, "nuvu china ka undedapudu okka aama intikki pilchukuni osthivi", and suddenly that one memory engulfed me with a barrel of nostalgia, she went on to tell me how we fed and took care of the lil guy before he decided to set off
on his adventures without saying goodbye and I was traumatized and upset, relentlessly crying all
day. It almost feels like it's going to happen all over again with cuddles.
He's lying spread-eagled on my blue painter pants, clinching and releasing his tiny black paws on anything he can find that's human, my fingers, my hair, my tummy, anything; and once he's satisfied it takes him but seconds to fall straight back in to deep cat sleep. Gosh, he's adorable. Gorgeous stripes paint his face and arms, he could grow up to almost resemble a majestic grey Tiger.
Cuddles came home on the 28th of July 2015. Okay, I picked her up off the street, she was jumping in to the auto whilst I was paying him off at the gate of our apartment, and I took to her instantly. I now know cuddles is a him. That's alright, I love him nevertheless. I gave him some milk and began calling a few agencies but he refused to drink milk as much as everyone refused to take him in. He was scared, anxious, ran around the house in fear yet with such agility that he managed to not touch a thing or knock over my souvenirs.
Cuddles is a special kitten, he's peaceful and loving, all he wants is a good belly rub, he purrs at the slightest tickle and he's happy to just know we're in the room. Cuddles is the first animal to get Zane to cry and if that doesn't make him special then what does!?
He ran away last morning and I was sure we'd lost him. It broke my heart but I had faith that he'd be back. By twilight I could hear a desperate yelp coming from the bushes downstairs and sure enough it was him, anxious and scared all over again. He's been with us for a day now, a grand sum of 24hrs maybe between coming and going and coming back, and I'm not yet sure if he's here to stay or if we'll be giving him away, what I do know for sure though is that Cuddles has helped Zane and I fall in love with another beating heart as if it were our own.
